the invisible 'I love you'

Today, I received two texts from two different friends a few hours apart that said, "I love you too" (among other unrelated things). This is sweet and wonderful, but it was also amusing to me because I didn't think I had typed "I love you" in either of the original texts. I checked my outbox, and sure enough, the word "love" didn't appear.

But even though the actual words weren't there, the texts were sent to two of my best friends in the world to who I'm sure I've said 'I love you' at least a hundred times. I didn't blatantly say it today, but the messages were filled with my love for them... so much so that I sent it right through the Verizon network. So, these two best friends of mine managed to get down to the heart of what I was saying without even realizing it - I wanted them to know that I love them. They replied with the most natural and loving response a friend can give: "I love you too." And that's how I discovered the invisible "I love you," the most beautiful part of my Thursday.

Life is so magic. I'm glad that I'm a songwriter so I have an excuse to over think this stuff.
