So, instead of going to one of the wild music festivals this weekend (bonaroo or music midtown), I opted to take dad on a nice, tame, early Father's Day outing to our third Eddie's Attic Semi-Annual Open Mic Shootout. At an indoor acoustic music contest (in a room that holds about 200 people, max, with the majority being over 30 years old) you don't really expect to see people get naked. Tonight was awesome.

I have the coolest friends and family in the world who will come see me play even if I only get two songs...well, three once I made it to the finals :).

Bain Mattox and his girl Amanda (an amazing musician as well who I don't have a link for at the moment) liked me enough to place me in the top three of the night and said lots of really flattering things... granted, it doesn't take much to be extremely flattered when it is coming from the front man of one of your top three favorite bands.  read more »
